As predicted, the heat certainly took some getting used to on my first day here. After work we had time to visit the very recently opened Louvre Museum. I had read about the new project while we were visiting the Louvre in Paris, but I had no idea it had opened only a month or so ago. There's a great collection of artwork and pieces inside, but like most museums, I'm sometimes more impressed by the actual building itself. Here is no exception! It feels like you're on the set of Waterworld, as there are multiple buildings are submerged in water to make little islands. It's situated just outside Abu Dhabi centre, so it's easy to get to and well worth the visit.
Landing at 1am this morning, I guess I could be forgiven for failing to spot the abundance of UAE flags everywhere, and I mean everywhere, on every road, all over the cars and hanging from the huge skyscrapers. It was UAE's National Day yesterday, celebrating 46 years since the union of all six emirates.
