Towards the end of a much sunnier day in Dubai, I had some free time to wander around. I was advised to take the metro to the Dubai Mall area, near the unmissable Burj Khalifa. If you've followed my photography for any length of time, you'll know I'm a sucker for tall buildings with great views, and they don't get any taller than this. Unfortunately, due to not knowing what time I would be finished with work, I couldn't pre-book a ticket, and upon arriving at the ticket office, I find every slot in sold out for today. Bummer. But.....after walking past another kiosk with a much shorter queue, I was told there were still tickets, to the very top floor. I then realised why the queue was much shorter, it's MUCH more expensive. Feel free to look up the price, it's horrific I warn you now. I may well be crazy for paying it, but I may not be back in Dubai for a long time, it's not a place I would ever come on holiday, I'm here, the weather's nice......why not!?
The only 'advantage' of this ticket is it gets you to the top in no time. Priority lanes for everything. Handy when it was late and the sun was setting soon.
As I mentioned, this gets you to the very top floor.....148 to be exact. The regular tickets 'only' go to 125. This higher deck is much quieter (I wonder why!!) and you can find yourself picking a nice spot much easier. Top tip....do not wear a bright t-shirt! The reflections were a really pain in the ass!
Without stating the obvious, the views are magnificent. It does feel a little odd though, as you look down on all the other really tall buildings, it doesn't feel like your looking down from a building....if that makes sense. You're almost too high! Definitely worth doing, but pre-book a normal ticket, where the views are just as good, for a lot less!
