We had a slightly later start today, as our only main plan was driving down to Wadi Rum, a protected desert wilderness in the south of the country. After arriving in the evening, we had time to check into our 'hotel', which was essentially a large dome right in the desert, providing panoramic views from your bed.
We then headed out for a 3 hour 4x4 ride in the desert itself, where our guide took us to some of the highlights in the local area. We ended up watching the sunset behind the Martian landscape.
If that wasn't enough to end the day, we had read that the area is a great spot for viewing the Milky Way. We stayed up quite late until it passed overhead. This was the best shot I could get before the moon rose and made the sky too bright to see any more. Still....I've never seen so many stars in the night sky, and it was a great way to end the day.
